Policy on late arrivals, early departures, half days and full days

  • In the morning, staff is expected to arrive between 8:00 AM and 9:15 AM.
(Staff arriving before 8:00 AM is welcome to do so, but I do not want anyone justifying an early departure claiming they compensated this by arriving before 8:00AM.)
  • Arriving after 9:30 AM (more than 15 minutes after latest expected arrival time) is considered late and too many late arrivals will need immediate remedial.  Disciplinary action will be taken if late arrivals do not cease
  • Lunch break is 1 hour whenever you decide to take it.
  • You are expected to work no less than 8 hours in the office (unless you are out on company business); working from home is not a substitute.
  • Leaving before 5:00 PM is considered leaving "early" and too many "early departures" will need immediate remedial.  Disciplinary action will be taken if late "early departures" do not cease.
  • Very Late Arrival will be considered a half day vacation taken
Arriving after 11:00 AM is considered very late arrival, and a half day will be removed from regular pay and replaced by a "half vacation day" (or UNPAID if no vacation day available); in this instance, you may choose to leave before 5:00 PM if you feel that a "half vacation day" would be otherwise unfair.
  • Unacceptable Arrival Time will be considered a full day vacation taken
Arriving after 3:00 PM is NOT acceptable.  If you arrive after 3:00PM, you will not get regular pay for that day.  You will get a "full vacation day" pay (or UNPAID if no vacation day is available).
If you arrive after 3:00 PM, you may choose to not arrive at all since no time on that day will be considered for Regular Pay.
  • Very Early Departure will be considered a half day vacation taken
Leaving before 3:30 PM is considered very early departure, and a half day will be removed from regular pay and replaced by a "half vacation day" (or UNPAID if no vacation day available); in this instance, you may choose to arrive after 9:30 AM if you feel that a "half vacation day" would be otherwise unfair.
  • Unacceptable Departure Time will be considered a full day vacation taken
Leaving before 11:30 AM is unacceptable.  If you leave before 11:30 AM, you will not get regular pay for that day.  You will get a "full vacation day" pay (or UNPAID if no vacation day is available).  If you are planning to leave before 11:30 AM, you may decide to not come at all.

While the above policies are not negotiable, some consideration may be given for those staff members who consistently work above and beyond the official 40 hours per week.
